Why a 2nd Ship Charge?

My buddy at work and I are ordering from liveaquaria to split the charges. He is buying Guppies. I am buying snails, shrimp and the Nano Mushroom Pack. WHy is there another shipping charge? Shouldn't the mushrooms be charged as CORAL from the first part of the shipping charge?

Please Note: Aquatic life will be shipped from either California or Wisconsin. If your total order is shipped from one location, single shipping and handling rates will apply (see chart below). If your order includes aquatic life shipped separately from two locations, the 2nd shipment will only be charged an additional $14.99 (excluding Live Rock & Sand). A summary of your shipping rates will be totaled during checkout.

But these aren't these both from liveaquaria? Where is the 2nd location? Everything is live, no lights, food or anything.

Thank you for your post. As Vijaym85 stated, LiveAquaria orders are shipped from both our California and Wisconsin facilities. If your order includes aquatic life shipped separately from both locations, other than Live Rock and Sand orders, the Wisconsin shipment will be charged an additional $14.99. We hope this helps explain why the Nano Mushroom Pack, which ships from Wisconsin, has the additional shipping charge. The rest of your order consists of items from our California Facility.

Thank you for your response. The items that currently ship from our Wisconsin Aquaculture Facility are all of our Aquacultured corals and Divers’ Den items. All other fish, corals, invertebrates, and marine plants ship from our California Facility. We appreciate you choosing Drs. Foster & Smith’s LiveAquaria and thank you for your interest in our operation.

Note, however, that if you upgrade to priority overnight ($10) the upgrade is applied to all shipments for one cost. They actually lose money on shipping from the second location and lose even more if you upgrade. Still, all in all, the shipping is cheap as shipping goes.

I do not think I have ever had an order that did not ship from both places, so you might as well figure $50 for shipping???
