i've been looking for a killer blue-spot squamosa at a reasonable price with no luck

Ya lucky dawg, you beat me too that one. Blue squamosa's are very rare now. I have seen a few sell in the $400-$600 range. Too much for any clam if you ask me.

Blue squams aren't rare really, they just don't get bought by american wholesalers or retailers because of the cost.
They all go over to Japan and those countries is what I have heard from people that have been to the farms and seen plenty of them.
BTW your maxima is awesome, good score!

just looking for a blue-spot

just looking for a blue-spot

i'd take a blue-spot one, if i could find one of them.

i agree that the $400-600 blue ones are way too expensive

They're going to the European and Japanese markets where the consumers are willing to pay the big bucks. Us Americans then end up with the bottom half of the barrel. Supply and demand. Everything in the hobby has exploded the past few years.

Sweet. Looks good.
I need to find a nice max.
Anyone seen any colored teardrops lately?

Hi to USA,

best wishes from Germany!

I haven´t seen such a great coloured Squamosa here; and i´m looking around all the time.

When YOU don´t get them, it must be the Japanese - we don´t get them :D

We always say " Oh, you won´t get such a stuff here in Europe - ask the Americans and the Japanese, they pay more for this."

And now i hear the same thing about your cpuntry. So they are in asia or they are rare.:D

Best regards

Kristof

thanks Kristof1

thanks Kristof1

its interesting to hear that Germany is saying the same thing about us.

now we just need someone from Japan saying how great those killer clams are + how much they cost

:-)

I'm Searching now for a thread that I think mbbuna did a while back that may make you rethink this? I am haveing troubles finding it though. Does anyone know the thread I am thinking of?

Thats it, thanks mbbuna.

Although I haven't seen anyone on here "at least in the clam forum, I don't get out of here much" from Japan. Does anyone on RC have connections in Japan that would be able to verify this? I mean all the rare clams going to Japan.

My best friend is in Japan, I will ask her. She's completely a not-reef person, so give me a few days. I'll see what I can come up w/.

Hey,Barry from Clam's Direct is getting ready to head over that way. Maybe he can shed some light on these questions when he returns, and bring a truck load of those Blue Sqaumosa's back with him.

The way I understand it ,they can't figure out how to do it in the U.S. AND THE WAY ARE GOV. runs they would triple the nationaldeficit and still not get it right!
