Why are my LPS corals dying?

Ohhhh bummer. I hate that when the hardware in our systems malfunctions. That is why many folks have redundant systems. I have a couple of different thermometer probes in my tank. I was going to email you today or tomorrow to check on how things were going. Sorry to hear about your losses.

I have this nifty little device, a Ranco controller, that controls my heater and my fan dependent on temp settings. This way the fan and heater are controlled and not just running non stop. It is not that expensive and it has worked really well for me to get the temp very stable in my tank.

also I would not run your uv steralizer hardly at all if any at all... while it will help with your phosphates it will also kill off the photoxanthell (sp.?) of your corals which will in turn make them lose their color and make it more difficult for them to feed

Never heard of it removing phophates? And if your talking about zooxanthella, possibly, although it is a renewable resource. In turn could effect the photsynthesis in corals( although I havent heard of this yet but sounds possible) but wouldnt stop them from feeding.

yes zooxanthella and photoxanthella I have heard at least... and if it is effecting photosythesis it will be effecting the feeding
