Why are my wrasses disappearing?

If it were a swim bladder issue you would see it in progress rather than automagically appearing. Emerald crabs hide easily. You might start by giving us the entire population of your tank rather than have us speculate.

I linked my build thread early on but here's a wrap up. I appreciate the help.

150 cube gallon mostly SPS and LPS

Fish (left):
Powder Blue Tang
Red Sea Sailfin Tang
Falco Hawkfish
Yellow Watchmen Goby
Orchid Dottyback
2 Percula Clowns

Inverts:
Clams (Deresa, Squamosa, Crocea)
Fire Shimp
Emerald Crabs
Small marbled serpent star
Lots of different hermits
Many different snails (queen conch, trochus, nassarius, cerith, nerite, turbo, etc)
Tuxedo and rockboring urchins

BTW, the symptoms of the Red Velvet Wrasse I think did progress over a period of about 2-3 weeks. The other three wrasses simply disappeared without notice.

Of the list, most probable is emerald crabs. If you have a brittle star, that might be a possibility also. Orchid dottybacks are among the more peaceful, but generally dottybacks and fairy wrasses don't mix.

Those of us trying to help are a bit lazy in chasing build threads so generally a list of inhabitants is useful.

I had the same problem, I had 3 different wrasses go missing just like you stated. I pulled all my rock out and found a Polyclad Flatworm.

I know that they are suppose to only eat snails but I have not lost a fish since the flatworm was removed.

Maybe this will help.
