ive heard they are not a problem then others say they have they in their reef and have had no problems???:sad2:

I've had Sally light foot crabs in two reef tanks and never had a problem. I have heard that when they grow large they can grab a fish. I've not had that happen to me.

I woke up twice to big sallys eating fish. Now did the fish die during the night and they were eating them? Or did they grab them and kill them? I am not 100% sure, but my hunch was that they killed these fish, as they showed no signs of being sick previous to the night. I got them out of my tank anyways, as I did see them try and grab fish. I stick with small blue leg hermits.

They are great when they are small but I had two in my tank and had to sump them once I moved from our 180-150 as they were attacking fish as the would swim by and did end up getting a couple of fish for dinner. If you put one in keep a eye on it once it gets bigger. And the bad thing about it is you have to pretty much take the tank down to get them out due to there speed. The is my experience with them

I like small Sally Lightfoots, cool looking and great algae eaters. They do get big, and start to eat other stuff (at least they did in my tank). Started off by eating all of my porcelain crabs, then started chasing fish.

my guys super tiny so i have a while before hes gotta come out

Because of their high metabolism, they actually grow pretty fast.

Had to remove mine, as well. First, my emerald crabs went MIA, then the (1)cleaner and (3)peppermint shrimp, then they started on the fish, all of which were perfectly healthy the last time I saw them. Once the SLCs were gone, the deaths and disappearances ceased.

FWIW, SLCs are not reef crabs at all, but rather, very opportunistic shoreline scavengers.
