Had them under several different lights but after "upgrading" to a panorama fixture they turned green... not even a hint of the original red. It's a 5.5 gallon btw .....
Very interesting Agu since that's typically the opposite. Many of the acans IMO when flooded with light loose a lot of their colors and go mostly red. Typically I'd say that they're under less PAR, but that's not the case here correct?
I've seen my acans go through many color shifts when I've upgraded lights or rearranged the tank in a way that gives them more light. I have one colony that did exactly what you are experiencing-- had strong red & green contrast when in the shade, but turned all green when exposed to more light. My guess is it's just case of regular old photo-adaptation.
