Why do I need to inject co2 into my tank?

A friend of mine who was in the hobby like 15 years ago brews beer at home. He has a Co2 tank to pump into his bottles. He told me today that if I get a bottle of my tank water, inject it with co2, and occasionally pour it into the tank. He said it would dissipate through the tank and really benefit the tank and corals. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

increasing the co2 in your tank will drive down your ph.......ph is a function of co2 that is in your tank..... we usually try to keep ph high and if anything have a problem with too many people/animals in the house that increases the co2 in the air and going into the tank ....your friend is an idiot....don't listen to him
