Why do things go wrong w/ tanks on vacations?

Honestly, I have had this happens to me nearly weekly, because my wife and I live in the city, we travel to my folks and their big house with an even bigger pool for weekends and when this happens the perverbial S^*T hits the fan.

I have had 3 clowns jump to their death, apparently suicide is truly something to be done alone and not in the presence of your reefkeeper.

I have had sumps drain dry, for some mysterious reason, water evaporates at much higher rate when Im not at home. I think the chiller goes on a sabatical when Im gone swimming.

When I leave for the weekend Murphy moves in, has a pint or 3 or 4 and wrecks havoc on my aquarium.

I come home sometimes and find mysterious streams of dried salt down the front and sides of my aquarium, explain that one?

cheers
D.

Haha. I had this too when I got home last night... I checked for leapers but everybody is present... Not sure what happened there...

A well thought out backup system and frequent testing of said system go a LONG way to getting adequate sleep while on vacation. (IMO)
