Why do we belong to a club

We belong to a club for camaraderie, the sharing of information and support. No one thinks to ask for info at a meeting or on RC. Unfortunately we try things first and when it isn’t working as well as we thought then we ask for help and then start over instead for asking for help from the beginning.

Some of you know that I had a bad fall, as seen by the cast at the seining event. Well things got worse and I was laid up for a few months. I could not get around very well and tank maintenance was falling behind, I thought I could manage and was too proud to ask for help.

One of the RBTAs had died and went unnoticed for a few days, as most of you can see where this is going, total crash.

Let this be a lesson no matter what your experience level you can use some help at times and should not think twice to ask for help.

Ok here goes (as I suck up some pride and swallow hard) I’m starting over and looking for some help.

What I have.
150gal acrylic RR 48L X 24H X 30Deep
20gal acrylic tank for refuge
500lbs of dirty sand some dry and some wet
100lbs of base rock cooking as we speak
100lbs of semi live rock should probably be cooked
2 new IC 250HQI pendants
2 new XM 10K HQI DE bulbs
2 new IC 660VHO ballasts W/ ends for T5s
8 new T5 bulbs actinic and 10K
Iwaki MD100RLT for filter and circulation pump
Iwaki WMD20RLT or Silent Seas T1200 for closed loop pump
36” beckets downdraft skimmer
36” fluidized bed filter
Auto top off W/ Nielsen Reactor
2 old IC 660VHO ballasts W/ ends for T12s
2 old 250 MH tar ballasts W/ Iwasaki 65K bulbs

What I need
A plan… I have a good Idea of what I want but want to do it right
Build a stand and hood. I have all the tools, need help with design and labor
100gal acrylic Sump for PS and prop tank 48L X 18H X 24 Deep. Do I build it my self or have custom made?
Chiller do I build it my self or have custom made or off the shelf?
New skimmer the beckets are just too loud! Thinking of a Euro Reef
Looking for Ideas, and labor as I’m still lame.
Anything FREE, frags, fuge starter, pods, inverts, fish

The old 65 tank stand and hood sump ER skimmer and lots of other equipment that I don’t use equipment will be up for sale and or trade upon completion of new setup or it is decided that I don’t need it

More things I do have.
A nice limp.
A fancy brace.
A lifetime of pain.
An excuse to never run again.

I was thinking of an OM 4way and Eductors for the closed loop.... any thoughts?

I plan on having the fuge above the tank to gravity feed the main display, and feed the fuge with the return from the Fluidized bed filter at 100gph flow ....any thoughts?

My plan for the lighting is to split the T5 so that there would be 2 actinic and 2 10K over both the main display and the prop tank and have the actinic come on and 30minuts later the 10K come on then have the HQI (over the main display) and the MH (over the prop tank) come on for 6 hours in the mid day and shut down in reverse order for a total photoperiod of 12 hours.

I am concerned about all the heat. I do have louvered cabinet doors for total flow through ventilation and 2 4” IC fans. I’m thinking Ill need another pair of fans though.

Wow, Sorry to hear about your injury and then your tank crashing. That is what you call insult on top of injury! It sounds like your keeping in good spirits about the whole thing, which goes a long way in this world. Best of luck in all your endevours!

Come on guys there has to be someone with some ideas, that can lend a hand.

That is what you call insult on top of injury!

Yes I'm in good spirits now but it made me sick knowing that I couldn't do anything for the impending crash (I should have given it all away in effort to save as much as possible) and I was pretty bummed for a long time.

I just got back from Fish and other Ichthy things in Oldsmar, John has some real nice looking corals ( as he always does) I talked to john about my setup and he started selling me stuff........ I got more than I set out for, I went there for replacement filers for my RO/DI and came out with an EuroReef 12-1 (what a monster) discontinued model at a great price. I also got the sediment filter, Carbon block, 75gal TFC membrane, DI resin, a flush kit for my RO/ DI unit (I have a lot of water to make) and a few back issues of Coral mag.

The only thing left to do is design and build or order the sump and get started on the stand.
