Why does my mp40 kept sucking in air ???

I only running at 80% and my tank is 2ft deep

a strong pump will create a thin vortex from the top of the tank and suck down air. It may not do it all the time but it can. if you watch it long enough you will see it. Dial it down a bit or try a different spot.

make sure the non grated side of the wet side is facing up toward the surface

the new wet side is different from the old one . it is open on all side

I have 1 MP40QD on one end and it's 6"-7" from the waters surface at about 80% top speed. Not having a problem.
How deep are they mounted?

i am using L1 as the return pump and i set it to 50 % strength , could it be due to that ?

I think I had mine a little closer and experienced the air vortex so I moved them down a little.
I would try yours a little lower.
Also, I was thinking that since you have 2 of them close together, they may be working together in pulling air down too. ( IDK, just a crazy thought).
I doubt the L1 has anything to do with it.

same problem here. I only run at 40%. Also depending on what mode you use. some modes pull less air in that other..

The QD models are even stronger..... a lot stronger
