i just got a lta anemone 4 days ago and my 2 ocellaris clows will not go in does any one know why and if they do go in it when?
thanks

I am certainly no expert, but there are several factors that could influence the clowns. The type of anemone may not interest them. They may prefer a carpet or another kind. I hope you did not buy a condylactis anemone, no clowns will host in that. Another factor may be that the clowns were tank raised, and not brought up with an anemome for protection. I have had tank raised clowns that eventually do go intoan anemone. Third factor is time. It may take weeks or months for the clowns to decide if they want it for their new home. Hopefully they will. some clowns will not even take to an anemone. i have seen them host frogspawn, mushrooms, ricordea, and even powerheads. it all depends on the clown.

How much light do you have

Anenome are very hard to keep alive in a tank. What is your lighting? They also need to be target fed regularly.

emk09 the only thing you can do is give them time. It took one of my clowns over 2 years before it decided to find a host. In my cube tank, my GSM clowns made a bee line for the anemone when I put them in.

Mine took months also. I notice your tank is really new. You might want to keep a close eye on it. most suggest 6 months to a year before adding an anemone. They tend to do much better in a mature tank.

It never hurts to get more than one opinion.

Psh we had 2 BTA in my setup and they ignored both and ended up hosting my trach..unfortunatly The trach didnt seem to go out ever after they started to host it, added with the fact the person i had to take care of the tank while on vacation not topping off lead to the death of the trach and the clowns dont host anything anymore.
