Why I am thankful this year. Post yours.

I would like to take the opportunity to share why I am thankful. It was a year ago this weekend that I began feeling sick and unable to eat. On Dec.2 I went to the E.R. and found out that my kidneys were not working. After 20 tests and biopsies and other scans on Dec.3 I was told that I have Multiple Myeloma cancer which caused the kidney failure. I was told that there is no cure for it and that it is a disease that they don't understand as of yet. That there is not enough research on it to offer a lot of help. I was told that I could live a few years with treatment but they can't guarantee anything. They said with the kidneys shut down it limits even what treatment they can offer.
I was started on dialysis to filter my blood and chemo-therapy to help slow the progression of the cancer.
In March I suffered spontaneous fractures in my spine in 3 vertebrae. In August I had to retire from work and go on disability (2/3 of my income) which makes this harder. Now my phosphorus and parathyroid hormone are off the charts and they want to remove my parathyroid before it starts to dissolve my bones.
In this last year I have experienced so much love from Family, Friends, Co-workers and Strangers. I am truly blessed to have so much encouragement. I am thankful to the Lord God for keeping me going strong. For giving me hope that this can turn around. For sending me so much love and support from people all over. And a big thank you to all of you who have shown this care for me. Here's to a better year.

You are so right trusting in The Lord for strength. He is mighty in all ways. I hope you get to feeling better and that all the encouragement keeps you going strong. You never know when they might come up with the right treatment to help you get started healing. God is so good to us and a lot of times we forget that. I am thankful that I know The Lord and that my parents chose to raise me in a Christian home. The main thing we all need to do is make sure The Lord knows us. Keep as busy as you are able to and think positive. You are really blessed to have the kind of friends and family to be around you and support you. I hope you all have a wonderful and happy Thanksgiving, and many more....
