Why is a Choati wrasse an expert level fish?

Typically upwards of $200.

But they are likely the MOST difficult leopard to keep. IF you can get them past the introductory period and eating, they are quite sensitive to parameter swings.

If you have no experience with wrasses, and especially leopard wrasses, this probably isn't a wise investment.

I agree. They are very sensitive to changes in water chemistry and do not do well with aggressive tank mates. Mine ate PE mysis from day one, nutramar Ova, copepods, and NLS pellets.

I hope you have some success soccer.

I bought one and QT'd it with Prazi. It hid in the sand almost the entire treatment. Put him into the display and he went straight for the sand. Woke up the next morning to him cruising the tank with everyone else. Put in food and he was stealing it from other fishes mouths. Everything pellets and all just like that. Never saw any signs of aggression from any other fish(210 gallon with a few tangs, a bellus angel, lineatus, flame, and yellow flank wrasses, clowns, and anthias.). For a couple weeks he looked amazing and fat, and then it vanished and I never saw it again.

There seem to be 3 thresholds: one day, one week, one month. Once you pass the third, you should be in good shape.
