Cukes are very sensitive critter,
They need a very stable environment which the majority of the time a newer tank isn't.

If you put it on a new set up, the stress of nutrients, nitrites, ammonia, nitrates will kill him.

They are very delicate animals.

i would think starvation would kill it. Cukes have never interested me. I think they look like mobile turds.

I will speak from experience... One died in my tank and EVERYTHING died with it.. give your tank a chance to cycle and stable itself out before doing it.. Trust me.. a little patience will save you lots of money and headaches.. HTH

anyways, if your tank is new your sand bed souldent need too much cleaning from a cuce anyways right? so i guess how "new" is the new tank?do you have poop all over your sand bed and mixed in a bit? if not i would say he would definalty starve. and like others say these guys can be efected easily by the water chemestry. so things like unstable chemestry of an unestablished tank or new additions of LR or LS might kill it and like the others said it might also take your other stock with it...
