Why no color with LED?

I have 3 AI Sols over my 6 foot 150. Why do the pinks and reds look so faded under theses lights? Everything looks dull except greens. Any ideas?

The AIs only have white and blue. They are not full spectrum so if you like the diploma spectrum look you will be disappointed. However I have seen the ai lights look great so mess around with the adjustments and you might get something. You like...

Full spectrum LEDs will look better with reds and oranges... IMO....

2 things IMO... the lights need to 1). "grow" the color in the coral and 2). show it off.

IME, the LEDs are better at showing off color that the coral "grew" under different lights. Some SPS did the same under both lights. Some were significantly different.

I have dabbled with the AI's about a year ago. From my experience with them is that only certain corals do well under them. I believe most LPS do well. In my tank when I had them my green corals grew like weeds, my red cap was also a fast grower, montipora stella grew and looked great, and my tricolor also did well. Everything else was stagnate or died. From what I have seen elsewhere the RB and Blue leds are great and the white's don't do much. I would suggest adding a few T5's to help get the spectrum you want. I went back to MH with T5 supplementation. I am currently throwing around the idea of doing 4 to 5 T5's and adding 2 rows of RB cree's. IME leds are getting close. But I think the trend will go away from from the single led's and shift more toward the multi chip fixtures like the kessil and cannons. Most of the led fixtures have multiple colors now. But they are not in equal proportion. For example one or two red or UV less do nothing for the tank as a whole. They just help the corals directly under them. This is where the multi chip shine by mixing all the leds under one lens, just like the MH reflectors do. Hope this make sense. Remember this is just my opinion and take it with a grain of salt.
