Why supplement with Actinics?

I'm thinking of changing my Coralife 10Ks for some Phoenix 14ks. I also have 2x96 CP 03s. With all the bulb choices out these day, in all the various color temps, why do we supplement with actinic lighting?

do folks use regular florecents if the change to say 20Ks? I was just wondering if I will need to still run actinics.

If you go with PHX, it is fairly blue. You wont really need actinics to suppliment the look. I have in right now Radium 20K 250 watt and 2-96 watt and dont always run the 96 watt PCs.

When I use XM 10K, then I always run the 96w 03 blue to add to the color in the tank and give it a nicer look.
