Hi all,
I want to get a 125 gal tank, but wich one ?
aga 72x18x22
Perfecto 72x18x22
aga has 2 center braces, the perfecto has 1
will 2 affect my lights ? (2x 36in tek)
I also want a tunze wave box
the aga has 2 megaflows - center or corner are availible
the perfacto has 2 corner flows
wich would be better ?
will the corner overflows affect the wave box ?
the perfecto comes with the megaflow kit
both tanks are close in price, so wich one ?......

THANKS

from what I understand perfecto doesnt have overflows. But anyway....Both are good tanks. I have a AGA and I love it.

Another benefit to the AGA (Which I own) is that if you someday decide to use 3 MH lamps you can place them in between the 2 small braces and have no shadow. If you have a brace right in the middle that could cause a challenge with a center MH lamp.

Just a thought.

(I love my AGA as well... megaflows are cool and if you paint the back of the tank black they actually blend in a bit - in my opinion)

I have the AGA 125, and the only thing I do not like about it is the placment of the overflows. Instead of being in the corners, they are about 8 inches away from the corners. I think you would really have to try hard to find a worse place. This makes aquascaping a bit more difficult. Getting good water movement is also hindered by the placement; lots of dead zones.

If you can get the corner overflows, don't look back.

I would go to with the 180 instead. it is 24" deep instead on the 18" you will thank me in the end. I would also go with the aga. Yes the overflow is 8" from the corner. If you want to look at the side you don't loose anything from the overflow. Power heads will help with dead spots. I still think your tank will be to small for the wavebox. it has a wave of 1 to 2 inches. that means you are loosing on the height of your tank. good luck and have fun

the aga 125 is 22 high, 18 wide
I would love the 180 but its almost double the cost
on the Tunze forum I was told the corner overflows would work with the wave box, but the center ones would be better
thanks for the replies

What are you planning to put in the tank?? If its going to be a FOWLR, then go with the cheaper deal. If its going to be a reef there are more things to consider. The placement on the braces will certainly affect lighting. The AGA would be better in this case. I would also recommend going deeper (front to back) if you want to keep a reef. I believe they make a 120g that is 48x24x24. That might be cheaper then the 180 (72x24x24).

My first tank was an oceanic 135 (72x18x24). I start with a FOWLR, but a year or so later started to get into corals. The Oceanic has a huge brace right in the center which casts a large shadow. I just bought an AGA 210 (72x24x29). I cant wait to see what the 24 inches front to back looks like. If i had room, I would go 36 inches front to back for a reef!

Yeah, I have that tank, the 120 Oceanic 24x24x48. The deeper tank makes room for more interesting aquascaping. I am very happy with it.
