I am thinking about getting a fire fish, wich one do you guys think would be best for my tank. He will go in a 12 gallon aquapod.

Stock list for my 12 gallon
1 Black Percula Clown
1 Bicolor Blenny
1 Randals Pistol Shrimp
Assorted Snails
Assorted Hermit Crabs
1 Emrald Mithrax Crab

I would go with the orange and white firefish (Nemateleotris magnifica). I think they would do better than the Purple Firefish in that size tank. I had both types, and the the orange and white did not swim around as much as the Purple Firefish did.

i have one in my twelve gallon. bought it local for $70. smaller thatn the other two and a little better colored.I would get rid of the bicolor and get a helfrichi. cool fish. love mine.

I am not getting rid of my Bicolor Blenny. He is colorful, very active, and very friendly! I can't get a helfrichi they are way to expensive. They may be more colorful than the other fire fish but the other two are also colorful.

The red and whites are less aggressive than the purples. I have one of each, and the fool purple occasionally quarrels with Sam, my largest [10 incher] bristleworm. He's twice ended up with a faceful of whiskers, but does this dissuade him? No.

Whether you're fully stocked dpends on other factors besides tank size and fish count.-- like how much LR, DSB, age of tank & amount of infauna, type of corals (SPS will not put up with any thing but perfect water eg phosphates)
In my opinion you could add a shrimp goby to go with that pistol shrimp if it's the right kind of shrimp. Get a smaller one like those striped highfin gobies.
There are a number of fish that stay small enough that you could add like clown gobies, rainford gobies... they virtually don't ad a thing to bioload

If it was me, depending on the lighting, instead of a fish, I'd add a BTA - but that can really add to your bioload as they are big eaters - you could just feed it enough so it does shrink-

HTH :)

Honestly with good hubandry including weekly water changes, I don't see why you couldn't add a firefish. Your blenny may not get along with it in a tank that size - might have to remove the new fish in that case. I'd add a piece of LR with lots of holes at the same time as the fish & get the teeniest one possible.

I do weekly 2 gallon water changes. I really don't want an anenome, I have had some bad experiences with them killing fish in my 90 gallon. The rainfords gobys are just plain awsome. Will my Bicolor Blenny get along with one of those? I am only keeping soft corals, zoos, mushrooms, and mabey some leathers.
