I know, I've done this thread before, bear with me, I'm obsessed :)

But wondering the current status. I'm looking for this...

Well I know the captive bred ones are definitely brown, but I was actually hoping for brighter yellow wild caught specimens, with wider bands, and dark margins to the bands, like this:

Kevin tells me this is typical of what's coming in, unfortunately.

I have seen the bright yellow color form for sale... back in '07

Heck, I cannot even remember 2007. The bright yellow is really appealing. I will watch out for them next time I go down to Old Town Aquarium.

I'm reviving this thread for two reasons.

The pic of the pure yellow bicinctus was mine from early 2000's with my 20g.

I'm looking for a wild pair myself but have not been able to find them, which makes sense because ORA has them now.

Also as they mature they will lose the pure yellow.

I am afraid the small Red Sea species (pseudos, gobies, clowns) just aren't coming in much anymore. I had heard that the collecting station that specialized in the smaller fish is no longer operating.

I would also love to get a pair of these. I had a nice small WC pair around 2008 and kick myself routinely for letting a buddy of mine house them, where they ended up dying in a power outage.

i had a nice breeding pair a few years ago. they were brownish yellow in color but did have a decent amount of yellow on them. also mine had the nice long whip coming off the tail fin like the second picture.
