Does anyone have thoughts on the difficulty in keeing a wild coral vs. captive raised?
I've found that wild acros purchased and shipped have a difficult survivability rate for me, I'm batting about 500. At the same time, I've had corals that started dying off that I could salvage by fragging. I've also had a mother colony show up that fragged in shipping, and the frag made it, the mother did not.
I also notice that all of my wild acros lose their color in shipping, and it takes time to come back.
What have you seen as a turn around for color restoration in these wild colonies? Assuming water parameters are acceptable, undetectable phosphates, almost no nitrates, proper calc/alk balance, flow, lighting, temp, etc.
My captive raised corals are all fine, colored well and doing well. My wild ones mostly are brown, but I have 2 smaller ones that are starting to color back up.
