Bought a small wild colony from the LFS that was sort of brown/purple color not much to look at but after a month it has been really coloring up nicely!
Green body purple tips and purple polyps.
The green is similar to the color of a lime.Under stronger light the corol turn more purple and under lower light the green becomes more prominent, similar to the way red planet does.
That's not a colony...it a tiny chopped frag of a wild colony...LOL. Looks like a tort. They grow pretty slow, so be patient until it grow into a "colony".
It is a frag from the colony.I fragged two pieces and placed them in different parts of the tank to see how it would react to light and flow.Put that piece directly under strong light with strong flow and it turned almost completely purple and started to show growth tips and incrust.Moved it to the bottom of the tank and it has changed to green base color. The other frag was claimed by a friend I owe some frags before it got acclimated.
The colony under medium light/flow is changing color and growing slowly.
Taking that frag to NCPARS swap to see what it will do in a much more accomplished hobbyists tank.
Nice piece! I’ve have had a lot of luck with brown SPS developing wonderful colors in my system VS the LFS. So far I have had a total of 3 pieces turn. One went from a brownish red to a pink/purple base with lime green tips. The two other (Milli’s) show the same color scheme… Congrats on a nice piece!
