for a 48x30x22" tank how many bulbs are needed? I was hoping to do a 6 or 7 bulb fixture. I currently run a xr6 with a single 250w light over a 3ft cube and find it to be plenty of light.
Thanks

it will work but Id go for 8 bulbs on a tank that large. I would also use 54watt bulbs since the tank is 48". That is a lot of width.

Do you have pics of your 36" cube with the single 250 watt pendant?

FWIW:
I use six 36w T5s over my 120g. I initially used six 54w bulbs, but downsized to 36w so I could use the same bulbs over my frag tank.

I don't notice it being any less bright and actually like the idea of having a few inches on the ends that are super bright.

For a 30" wide tank I'd do at least 8(maybe 10) bulbs. I could fit two more over my 120 but don't see the need.
