Will a large staghorns under sides section regrow?

If you add a white shallow sand bed the reflected light will solve your problems ashish, i'm assuming you have a BB tank considering the underside is bleaching from no light. Beautiful colony btw mate :)

Andrew,

I purchased 30lbs of heavier sand for replacement. However, after seeing zero detrius buildup on the bottom and never having that fog look I am reluctant to put some sand in. Also, I painted the top of my stand white and assume I have white shining from the bottom. I don't think it's the same as having sand though.. They seem to be doing better in the new location which is directly under the halide and has very high flow...

I only mention it Ashish because the nice green porites that was growing and spreading under a rock overhang receiving no light from above or the side has stopped and is now browning since i removed the sand bed as the grain size is too small for my circulation. I have white polystyrene under a clean bottom glass and it is still not reflecting a useful amount of light as demonstrated by my porites reaction. You could try placing a piece of 1/8" thick white acrylic sheet on the bottom near the colony for a few weeks to see if there is a positive reaction. I hope you can figure out a way to get more light to the underside and keep your bottom bare lol as it's a beautiful piece. :)

Thats great obervation on the BB...I just did a water change and added 10lbs of sand. I rinse it maybe 30 times with a high-pressure hose so did'nt fog the tank much. I can tell the reflection is obvious...

Let us know how things go mate but i'll be very surprised if you don't see an improvement over the coming weeks/months - i need to get to the LFS and replace my sand asap too.
