Will a Plate attack SPS?

Just wondering how dangerous a plate is in an SPS tank? Are plates pretty mellow or do they love to go on the offensive? He would probably be within about 3 or 4 inches from some SPS.

Also, is it ok NOT feeding a plate coral? Can he survive off just light and filter feeding? Will it effect growth/coloration?

I would definitely feed a plate. They can be tricky but usually do well with food. I'm not sure about the stinging.. usually they do well on the sand bed so im not sure if thats where your sps is too er?

The plate is on the sand bed and I am thinking of putting some SPS on a rock that is not too far from the plate..

I havent fed him because I dont have any fish yet and I dont want to over feed him. I should get a clown on the weekend and then I will feed them together. He wont have any problems not being directly fed for a week will he?

For a week I wouldn't think so :) Just feed every other day or so .. however he responds stuff like mysis.. if he's really big maybe a silverside but mine seems to like the bite size mysis shrimp pretty well

uh.. I just put a few on his disc and watch them slowly go up and get eaten in his mouth.. i don't think they are quite that voracious.. most of its life will come from the light it gets but a few shrimp here and there help too..

Maybe some other more experienced plate keepers could share their wisdom here too?
