Will a sea urchin climb out of a rimless tank@

Hello every one I was wondering if sea urchins will climb out of a rimless tank. I have a 3 year old and don't want him to find an urchin on the floor one day. I have a birdnet type top made with a window screen frame for the fish that jump. But it just sits on top. I have had turbo snails climb out before. Thank you

Not unless it's very unhappy. Unlikely to push the top off either way. Keep the water clean and don't mess with the salinity, and it'll stay.

Ok. I used to have a long spine in another tank with no issues. But never with a rimless. I have had lots of things get out since I went to rimless thanks for the help

They can, I've had some travel over an overflow into another compartment of my sump, where they are exposed to air somewhat.

Keeping the water level 2 inches below the rim would discourage the urchin from ever going over. This is theorectally speaking if the water line was even or very close to the rim itself.

My over flow only allows 1inch below rim any lower and water won't over flow. Do you think the when it's spines touch top it would discourage it from going further. Snails have not gotten out since I out that on there

Sand sifting starfish are doomed to starve in all but 500g+ tanks. They'll strip your sandbed bare of all life, including the good stuff, and then die slowly. Kinda like fromias and linkias, but with more damage done to your mini-ecosystem and biological filter. Try a brittle star instead, if you want a starfish.

Having the star fish isn't something I must have. I got it for keeping my sand bed stirred. My sand bed is between 3 to 4 inches. Is there something les harmful to keep sand moved around I can replace him with?

Nassarius snails,

but yeah that should be good to discourage the urchin from running out.
