Will a Tank Bred Clownfish Choose a Host?

Yes!

I get asked pretty frequently if a Tank Bred Clownfish will choose a Host. The instinct to choose a host is just as strong as in a wild caught specimen.

This "Teardrop Onyx" was a pretty unique misbar that I decided to add to my personal collection after the local buyer had backed out. He hatched on November 4, 2011. The first pic was taken a year ago when he was only 5 months old.

And this is what you can expect a Premium Onyx Clownfish to look like around the 16 month mark.

As you can see, he is very happy in his BTA!

Similar experience here. I got 2 tank bred percs from Love Aquaria about a year ago. I put a BTA in the tank about a month ago and they went right in.

I was feeding my fish just now, I have 2 sea Anemone and the clown was picking the food and going over and feeding each of the anemones. I was amazed! Didnt know they would do that.
