Will a wave box ruin my skimming?

I want to add some wave action to my tank. I haven't decided between two 6101's on a controller or a wave box yet ( what will be more realistic?). I've seen wave boxes in action and it looks like skimming is non-existent. How is this handled?
At the moment I use a standard 125 gal tank with one corner overflow. I'm planning a 300+ gal plywood build and want to use a coast to coast overflow. Any suggestions?

Tunze wave box has nothing to do with the skimmer. It does help keeping detritus suspend in the water column long and get export by the overflow box.

Tunze wavebox will work better in your 300+g system but not the 125 because it will take too much space....

I'm sorry for being dense...but whenever I see a tank with any wave action, the water surface rises to the overflow box intermittently. This makes it look like surface skimming is hampered. Am I over thinking and and worrying over nothing?

Yes sir, you are a little bit over thinking. I never have any problem with my surface skimming.
