Will Chaeto grow under 110W of PC actinic??

I was using a LOA 65W PC bulb and it didn't grow.

I just switched over to these PC's and I'm hoping they'll grow. If not, what kind of PC's should I replace my two 55Wers with?

I have a fuge that is 16" x 20" x 10" (at the waterline) with ~1000gph going across it in one direction and a 300gph spraybar going in the opposite direction. The PC's are about 18 inches above the water line.

The chaeto wad is about 2" x 2" x 5" in size.

I wish I could get mine to grow. 12x12x16 fuge, 13w PC (10K) lighting. Very slight growth, even in the presence of 1 part Ph.

Cyano though growing like the weed it is. Thinking of adding some additional macro's to absorbe more of the light (cyano on the DSB).

Bastion,

I don't think 10W is enough, even if the light is right on top of the macro. BTW, I've seen a small amount of growth but I'm gonna swap the bulbs for new 10K's anyways.

I'm not happy with ya Despot! :D

I'll head to the HD today and pick up a 26W or even brighter light. Only constraint is space under the tank!

the iron will help, I use a 65W smartlite and it grows like crazy. I also noticed that it does better if you pull it apart some.

I use 2x 48" Dual 40w flourescent fixtures (Total 4x 40w = 160w) over my Fuge. I started with 4x fist size clumps of Chaet, and in the past 4 months that has grown to about 3 Sq Ft. Enough that I am going to have to start removing it.

In my sump, I have a single Dual 40w flourescent fixture (Total 2x 40w = 80w). The water is a little deeper, but a fist size clump of chaet has just doubled in size over the same time period.

I think theres much more to this than the amount of light. I broke my smartlite bulb while cleaning it, 2nd time :(

so I have been using this little craftsman 18W PC worklight I have for the past week, all the macros are looking greener, thicker and fuller.
