Will copper contaminate a Brute?

I have a Kole Tang that has brought ich to my tank. I also have a pair of small clowns and 4 chromis in the tank. I have a small tank I am going to use to treat the small fish, but the tang presents a bit of a problem.

I was thinking about throwing him in a Brute to treat him. I can see this would make observation difficult, and possibly ruin the trash can for water storage. Would the copper contaminate the container?

My other concern is feeding. The fish has yet to take prepared food and has been living off the algae in the DT. I guess it's just a choice between the parasite killing him and starvation. I have tried garlic stimulants with no luck.

Personally, I wouldn't do it. Not unless you know someone who has successfully. No way of knowing how that copper will interact with the plastic from the brute.

I doubt the plastic will interact with much of anything; this stuff is USDA food safe. I'd find a number for Rubbermaid and ask them; all companies like this have good tech support.

My attitude is that copper contaminates everything. That keeps me safe with the inverts. In reality, there are any number of ways to decontaminate if you're worried.

Besides, copper, in the level we use it, is USDA food safe. We're not invertebrates. :)
