Will coral dip prevent red bugs?

Looking to get some local SPS frags and we currently have some red bugs going around. Another question, how long can you keep the SPS in the coral dip.

Interceptor is the ONLY 100% effective treatment against RB. Period.

saw that one of my frags had red bugs and i dipped it in revive for 10 mins. they all came off. 3 days later and i dont see anything on the frag.

To be honest i've gotten sidetracked and forgot about acroporas in a revive dip for up to i'd say 30 minutes with no ill effects.

Good luck with that. If you give any frags away or trade, you might disclose that tidbit.

See my post above yours if you have any questions.

IME Interceptor is the only way to be 100% sure. RB got past revive for me.

may not be 100%, just tried it out. ill definately be getting some interceptor though.

Several people in that thread state that interceptor is the only 100% effective treatment.

I use revive for my QT process (similar to Melev's), but to say that it kills AEFW eggs is just crazy. I've not seen anything that kills them yet. Manual removal of eggs and killing the adult before they lay their next batch is the way you get rid of them.

For one guy to state that he buys frags knowingly from a source that has AEFW, and just does a revive dip, means that he has them in his tank. No way he is gonna dodge that bullet numerous times, unless he is buying unmounted fresh cut frags that don't have any of the bite marks on them.

I really wish we could sticky something at the top about the pests we encounter with SPS, and put some good info in it. All of these people saying coral Rx or Revive kills everything is just fueling the pest fire.

I can see them with my eyes - but I've got 20/10 vision.

Lack of polyp extension is a good indicator. Look at coral that typically throw polyps and then put a magnifying glass on it. If you can pull the coral out, then put it in a white bowl. Should help the little orange buggers stand out a bit.

I actually find them easier to see while the coral is still in the tank. When the aquarium lights hit them just right, they GLOW bright orange.

Has anyone here tried CoralRX, it claims that it get's rid of red bugs, and acro eating flatworms. I haven't tried it yet because it's super expensive.

I just checked out their website, I didn't see anything about redbugs on there.

I use the blue spoons from a salifert test kit. Crush up a large pill (one large pill treats ~400 gallons of water) and dose one spoonful in about 1.5 gallons of water. Run in my pico QT for two hours, check corals, then dump in Revive, swish coral for a few minutes each, inspect again, and then put them into DT.
