Will Cyphastrea grow over sand?

I have three cyphastrea frags with two of them taking up a 2 inch plug. One is placed on a large piece of live rock and I really don't want it encrusting that rock.

Will they encrust over sand like a psammocora?

I'm not sure where to place the thing so that I don't have a problem a year from now.

I think it might, but VERY SLOW if at all... Kind of like a Favia or something similar. That tissue might incorporate that sand given time.

Not in my experience, sand kind of irritates their flesh imo.

Mine are growing over sand no issue

If you lift the coral up have it Incorporated some of the sand into its Underside? That is pretty cool
