Will fresh paint or new house affect my new tank

I am setting up a 300gl tank that will be in the Parade of Homes and there will be people still working in their will the tank is cycleing. Will fresh paint or carpet or anything in a new home mess with the tank.? Has anyone put a new tank in a home before it was totally complete?

I've been wondering that, too. I have to use oil based stains and new paint near my tank. I'll be watching this thread! Thanks!

Fumes wont bother anyone but you lol. Only if stuff starts to settle on the water will there be an issue. If particles are floating all over then yeah it can be an issue.

I would hold off and keep the tank cover. The paint could be splattered in the tank and then your all done. this is of course after you buy all your fishy friends.

Better safe then sorry.

For fumigation (or painting) near tank, I used saran wrap over all openings, cut all pumps and lights, and opened the windows of the house, with fans, once the mandatory leave-closed-up time was done. The only thing I left going during the shutdown was the heater and (in the 100 marine) a bubbler on a pump. The tanks all came through perfectly fine. At that time we had two indoor pools (freshwater) a 50 fresh, a 20 and a 100 marine, and we had no damage, over an 8 hour shutdown.

Water is the worlds best sponge. It will soak up all kinds of nasty stuff from the paint fumes. The carpet is probably not an issue, but paint and stains are a big issue. I wouldn't set it up until everything was completed and aired out if it were me. Also saw dust will cause your PH major problems if it gets in the tank.
