Will Mushrooms Move?

If Mushrooms begin to grow and overlap one another, will they move?

Or will one eventually "out-fluff" the other, essentially suffocating it from the light?

I know mine has moved. It's pretty cool, though. The large one just kinda moved (I'm talking about 2 inches over 6 months) and then little mushrooms would grow where he moved over. I think there are 5 or 6 on the rock now.

Well, either that, or I am crazy...

They will release and float around yes. They can also tear themselves leave a foot behind and attach just to the side. Shrooms are basically anemones and have the ability to do such movements unlike coral.

Another Shroom Question

Thanks for the replies!

I only have 5 Mushrooms on this one rock, and they're pretty spread out from one another. But I have noticed that 2 of them seem to be competing for the light. One will overlap another, then I come back later and it's the opposite. They do this all day long, but I've noticed lately that one seems to be losing the battle.

It's shrinking and I believe that it's trying to relocate.

One more 'Shroom question though: Is A Mushroom a Mushroom? Meaning, if you have a variety of colors of different Shrooms, are they all the same species and will they get along as they spread?

ThanX!

I have some green hairy's and one was being overlapped by another... it is in the process of moving, albeit very very slowly... it has moved about half an inch over the last few weeks... but that may be due to him finding a bit more light... perhaps he will move over a bit more as the other continues to grow.
