Ive had 2 ocellaris clownfish for about 2 -2 and a half years now. There both the same size and full grown about 2 to 2 and a half inches. They get along fine and even sleep on the same patch of zoas. Do you think that they will ever pair up? I thought the male was always smaller than the female? I got them when they were both about 1 inch and they both grew to be the same size. Is this odd? thanks in advance!

Well if they arent fighting they are a pair.If they have been together for 2-2 1/2 years they are a pair.I dont think it is to uncommon for fish to be the same size.DFS has a pair of McC's that spawn and are about the same size.

Ah ok. Yea ive never seen them fight once since i got them about 2 1/2 years ago.I was just under the impression that the male was always smaller than the female. In the time ive had them they have never spawned though so i thought it was kind of odd.thanks

Well tey might have spawned.Just where you cant see it.And if they havent dont worrie they will do it when ready!

the tank is only a 10 gallon nano so theres not to much space for the eggs to hide. But today they spawned finally :) im very happy. Im upgrading to a 20 gallon for them next week. and im going to try and raise the clowns in a 3 gallon eclipse i have hanging around.I ordered a sponge filter ,phyto and brine shrimp to culture. Wish me luck as this is the first time i will be attempting this.Ive bred African Cichlids all my life so i cant wait to have a go at this. Also my pepperment shrimp continue to spawn all of the time and the fry get eaten. Is it safe to put the pepperment shrimp fry and clown fry together?if not once i upgrade to the 20 ill set up the 10 for clown fry and the eclipse to try and raise the shrimp as well.

LOL thats so funny, you post about your clowns ebing together for so ling and them never spawning and then BAM they spawned... RC....such magic happens here =p

but on a serious note: congrats on the spawn! and goodluck raising the fry, there is a lot of good info here on rc so abosrb like a sponge! and let us know how you do!:celeb1:

Don't be too surprised if they don't start spawning again after the move, more so because they just started.

hehe just like magic savageAJC lol :) gotta love it! Its ok Toddrtrex im sure eventually they'll be comfortable again in the new tank at least i know now they arn't freaks :P .Can i put Clownfish fry and Pepperment shrimp fry in the same tank or is this a bad idea? Which would eat the other if anything? I mean considering if they had fry at the same time?

Trying to raise peppermint shrimp fry would be a big undertaking -- I have yet to hear of anyone successfully doing that. While raising clownfish fry would be easier, it is still an undertaking and wouldn't want to attempt to do both in the same tank.
