I had to do some evasive menuvering on my way home, and I drop my Scolymia! Man Im ticked! Do you guys think he will be alright??? You can kinda see the torn flesh on the left....sorry I cant get a better pic.....Im still learning basic photgraphy.....
Should be alright, doesn't look bad at all. It should heal up really well in a few days. Don't worry about it too much. Maybe feed the scoly when you get the chance.
When you get the chance, take a pic of the scolymia so we can see what color it is. I think you will be ok. Just continue to monitor it but the damage you caused on it is not very bad. A lot of people frag corals up and that causes more damage than what happened to your scoly and yet the corals fragged and the mother colony always heal up really well.
Its been a few days now and, luckily, the damage hasnt gotten any worse. However, I am starting to notice that some green algae is making its way onto the exposed skeleton.......any advice??
Well....Ive been dusting it off everyday now and it doesnt seem to be getting any better......and judging by the pic above, its actually a little bit worse.......any other suggestions? Also, I am target feeding it every other day........
Take it out of the tank, scrape the algae carefully with a knife and then put it under some shade (back in the tank). Continue feeding it and keep your fingers crossed. I did this with a brain and it came back nice.
The same: shade the exposed skeleton, feed, give it time - mine restored.
Check phosphates, algae didn't grow on exposed skeleton of mine, even in direct sun.
They are resilient, will hope for the best.
