will my sick bta make my tank crash?

I just recently acquired a 3in bta from an online vendor. When it arrived its mouth was open and all shiveled up. I tried to feed it and give it some decently light. Recently it moved and I can't find it anywhere. I have 58g with a 20g sump. I'm worried that the bta will die and make my tank crash. Breaking down the tank with corals and rocks is not an option. What can I do?

when is last time u seen it? water cloudy/stinky? sure it wasn't deflating? how long ago did u get it? i would say start doing more water changes, 25-35%. they could pollute a tank if left dead, and NO WC were done and tank parameters weren't up to par to begin with.

its only been one day so far I haven't seen it. I'm going to do water changes periodically and look at my skimmer to see if any fishy is going to happen. But overall my water parameters are good so far. Keeping my fingers cross and going to watch the tank like a hawk.

Man what a day! I found the bta sucked behind the rocks by the megaflow on my 58...half of its body was there and the other half went down in the sump. My skimmer went crazy nuts and I knew something was terribly wrong. I have no choice but to break down my tank with acros, fish, and some lps to pry off the half body of the bta. I also did a water change and plan to change at least 5gallons a day for the remainder of the week. Hopefully I won't lose any livestock.

yea 5g is not alot, but I already gave it a 15g water change already. I just want to do 5g everyday for the coming week to make sure. I notice that green algae is growing a lot faster. Hopefully the 5g a day change makes a difference. Or is 5g too little?

i would do 25% of net water every 5 days for about 10 days(twice), then stick w/ 10% bimonthly or weekly.
