Will my tank have ICH?

I am planning to buy a fish from someone I know and he has ICH in his tank before. Not sure if the fish I am getting has it or not, but I was wondering will I bring ICH into my tank?

I know that ICH is a parasite that is in the water column and substrate, but I just want to make sure before I get it because my tank is ICH free as of now.

If you want to be absolutely certain you don't get ich in YOUR tank then I would recommend 4-6 weeks hyposalinity in a QT tank. That is the only way to be 100% certain the ich in his tank doesn't make it into yours. There is a good probability that ich could still be in his tank unbeknownst to you or even HIM.
