Will ro/di water kill Ich?

I'm doing the tank transfer method. I was wondering if after I remove the infected fish from a Tupperware, will putting ro/di water in it kill the Ich? I'd empty out the salt water. Then fill with ro/di and let it circulate for 3 days. Then put in salt. Is this safe or a terrible idea?

If you are going to reuse that Tupperware for another transfer I'd rinse it with a solution of 1 part bleach to 10 parts water. Rinse well then let air dry. Circulating RODI water will not kill ich.

Your new saltwater should be mixing for at least 24 hours. Then add it to your clean, sterile container for the next transfer.

Yes. There are many references to using a mild bleach solution to clean tanks between transfers. I've done tank transfer on all my fish and do it this way without any problems. Works great! Be sure to rinse well. Don't forget to clean all your equipment as well.

Distilled white vinegar also works well for sterilizing equipment, and it won't harm the fish if it doesn't get 100% rinsed. Just make sure everything is completely dry after cleaning. Desiccation will destroy any tomonts that don't get destroyed by cleaning.

This is what I do as well, as using bleach makes me nervous.

If Ich can survive several hours of being soaked in a tap water/vinegar solution, plus 3 days of drying time; then I need to find me a new hobby.

I tend to err on the side of safety. With bleach, a thorough rinse and dry will insure no contamination.
