Will saltwater kill grass?

Um,

Why don't you just dump it down the drain?

Do you have any neighbors you don't like? Maybe you could test it out.

Bermuda grass is some what tolerant to high salt. But even if patch of it dies it will spread over it eventually. If the hose is pernament the build up will get high fast and I am afraid even bermuda cant grow on that soil.

I don't believe it will be enough salt to affect it any. I will have a lot of freshwater to the amount of saltwater. I doubt I will have enough salt to raise the salinity enough to the point of killing my grass.

In time it will matter.

Salt doesn't get removed from soil very fast. Rain dilutes it. Your freshwater additive dilutes it. But dilution isn't removal. Eventually it will kill the area you are putting it. Hard stop, period, end of story. Its not a question at all of IF it will, it WILL.

The only question is how long you get away with it before it happens.

We've used water change water on our driveway to kill grass and weeds for a few years. After awhile it stops coming back which tells me it is definitely accumulating in the soil to some level.

But I live high in the Blue Ridge Mountains of NC and our plants are NOT salt tolerant at all. YMMV but I'd suspect over time it will make a difference to your grass.

It kills my grass. I have a patch that's about 2 feet wide by 5 foot long that has no grass in it. The deer however use the drain as a salt lick.
