Will skimmer take out Phytoplankton if add directly to tank?

If I added Phytoplankton to my tank will the skimmer take it out? I wonder if anybody knows. I just got some clams and I dont know the best way to feed them. I would appreciate any comments or assistants,

turn your skimmer off for a couple hours when you feed the tank with live phyto...during the down time its a good to get in some maintance to clean up the skimmer some...and other equipment as well.....and yes the skimmer will suck out the phytoplankton.....
