Will the shrimp survive?

If I add a goby/pistol pair, will my toby puffer eat the pistol?

Any experiences with this would be appreciated.

Probably not fast enough with the goby protecting but that is a guess not a fact.

If the goby and pistol are actually paired and share the same hole then it will stand a better chance of surviving. The goby's job is to alert the shrimp of danger. There is always the risk though, like Steve said, it is only a guess.

Thanks, guys. The goby didn't make it through acclimation so the question is moot. I may try again with a big tiger pistol.

I had a big tiger pistol in a tank with a what started as a baby and ended up as an almost fully-grown valentini puffer for a little under 2years. The puffer attacked snails when he got larger, but never looked twice at the pistol. He didn't go after hermits either.
