Just curious? Why do u want the nem to split? I've never heard of anyone successfully cutting a nem. Wondering if anyone has done this as well.
I've heard other reefers sticking their finger to the mouth to force split, but that sounds unnatural and I have never done that either.
A number of people have cut bubble tips in half or in quarters. It work, Is it a good idea, not really. But It's your nem so do what you want. I haven't heard of any other nems being cut successfully except a H. mag once.
This anemone will split on it's own when it gets large enough. I personnally wouldn't cut any anemone. If you want to propagate it into more animals then feed it well and let it grow large. Mine usually split if they're getting fed regularly and are otherwise happy (good light and current).
I feed krill or scallops. Cut to small pieces, about pea size. Every other day. You can feed any meaty seafood like mussels or shrimp - just make sure it's human-grade. I recommend against silversides because people have reported problems with them ... making anemones sick.
I get frozen bay scallops. I have 5 very large RBTAs so I will take two or three and thaw them in tank water. Then I smash them up into small chunks and use a turkey baster to target feed the anemones. The krill I use is dried so I rehydrate it in tank water and break into small pieces. I used feed twice a week but have stopped because they're growing too fast. I don't want them to split any more. Now I feed once every other week plus they catch what I feed the fish too.
That nems looks to be in the small side already, wouldn't try to cut it until its at least 5" across, and you've had it for at least 4 months to make sure its fully acclimated and healthy.
