Will this be too much light

I have a 90 gallon tank that measures 72x24x12, will a 8 bulb Tek T5 be to much light for a zoanthid tank? Also what bulbs would you recommend for best color? Thanks

No, you can place as many bulbs you want over the tank, if it's wide enough and the fixture fits within the tanks' measurements.
I would think your tank is 24" wide (?). If so, it's a shallow tank! The tek fixture (19 1/2" wide) will fit and still have room.

The combination of bulbs will depend on you.
I would suggest 6 Blue Plus bulbs and 2 "white" bulbs. You could choose 10.000Ks, 15,000Ks,…

Do you have a plan for the bulbs? Let us know and we'll try to help you out.

Tek is a simple fixture and works great.
They don't make them anymore.
I had Tek in the past and ATI fixtures also.

I was thinking of running the following combination.

True Actinic
True Actinic
Blue Plus
Blue Plus
Aquablue Special
Aquablue Special
Purple Plus
Purple Plus

(Not in that order)

Let me know what you think. Thanks

Nope,
I would go more like this:

FRONT-----------------
BLUE +
AQUABLUE SPECIAL
SUPER ACTINIC
BLUE +
AQUABLUE SPECIAL
SUPER ACTINIC
BLUE +
BLUE +
BACK------------------------

Or even go with THE 2 BLUE + instead those 2 SUPER ACTINICS.
Better PAR.

There are just **millions** of ways to do it, really!
It's a matter of taste and personal preferences.
Zoas aren't THAT hard to please when using T5s.
It is much better to use higher PER bulbs, once you're paying the electricity for all of them!!
BLUE + has higher PAR then ACTINICS.
Better bulbs!!!

From the standpoint of coral color, would the blue + be better or the actinic?

Actinic blue bulbs are very, very close to Blue Plus bulbs to the naked eye. To the point that you just can't tell the difference when they are side by side. I tested myself. ATI Blue Plus has plenty actinic on in and the PAR is just great!!!
There are some actinic blue bulbs that are more towards the purple, but not worthy with the loss of PAR, and the difference is so little, plus the fluorescence of the polyps are basically the same anyways...
