Will this stand be strong enough?

This will be built for a 40", 28", 22" aquarium. approximately 106 gallons I believe.

The wood will be completely 2x4s. Is the brace in the middle overkill, it would be nice to have more room to get into the sump (unfortunately I'm in FL without a basement)

Should be fine. If you are concerned about strength if you remove the front middle brace, you can replace the top front rail with a 2x6 and you should be fine.

I agree it should be ok without the center brace since it has a smaller footprint
