I have a 30 gallon tank and wondered if a 250watt mh with 2 96 watt atentics was to much. Will it burn everything up?

Seems like a lot, but I have seen posts on hear that are doing it. The pros will probably tell you to hang about 10" above the tank.

it could be done but it seems like a bit of overkill for a 30. you could get away with less light which would mean less power bill as well. cruise the nano forum and see what those guys have to say, im sure someones done it. I run 2 150w MH and 4 110W vhos over a 180 with mostly softies and a few more light needing corals up top with no problems.

I have a 37 gallon tank with a 150w hqi and 2 pc actinics and they work great, a 250 might be a bit overkill.

that is overkill. IMO, you would fry things.

Go with 150 or 175w MH with 65 or 130w of actinics and you will have enough for most anything

Thanks everyone I decided to pass and stick with the 175 and 2 65 watt atentics I have.
