Wilsoni/symphyllia skeleton showing

I just bought(3 weeks ago) a wilsoni brain I've notice that during the daytime(when the lights are on) a small amount of the spiky skeleton shows through it usually has a tiny tiny amount of of brown on the tips. In the mornings I dont notice the skeleton so Im thinking its a high lighting or high temp issue. Par in that spot is around 70 and temp stays around 81 80. I have heard these brains like cooler temp so im trying that. The spikes only show at the top of the coral reaffirming my lighting theory. Should I be concerned or will the coral adjust overtime?

First, wow nice specimen! Second, the brown on the spikes is algae which means it's been like this for a couple weeks. Lastly, yes the cooler temp, lower flow, and lower light should help in letting this animal heal. GL, keep us posted.

Mine does that all the time. I've got a Radion over my 12" tank and had a Kessil a360 before. Had them both at no higher than 25% and same thing. It is not your lights, it is natural for the coral. Mine does it when lights go from 14k to 18k and then puffs back out.

Btw my temp goes from 77.6-78. No more no less, and it's in front of my mp10. Enough flow that when expanded the tissue moves.
