Winter Pics

Not much to do outside. It's been bitterly cold here. Drove through the countryside. got out of the car long enough to take the pics, then jump back in the car.

Nice. Is than an Osprey or some sort of Hawk?

Didn't really know, thought about a hawk, but noticed about 20 birds on a wire 50 ft away. Didn't think a hawk would allow that.

You'd be surprised how much a hawk will put up with when it's freezing out

Based on body shape and patterning, it's a hawk. And a chilly one at that. He appears to have one leg tucked up and to be sitting low on the perch covering as much of his other exposed leg as possible. Can you imagine having a couple naked toes exposed to that cold? I wonder if they can get frostbite?

Yes, nice pics. Brave photographer going out in the chill. It's cooling a bit here too, might only get to 65 today.

It's a golf course, we were gonna play a couple holes, but it was a little chilly. And we couldn't find out where the holes were.

I can imagine hitting water would but the least of your worries concerning lost balls as well. =)

we got our first "real snow" in about 5 years here... hardly anything to get overly excited about, but its what we got... i can only imagine if we were to get a couple feet, i'd be in HEAVEN... love that last shot

I love winter scenes. I tried to take photos of the ice storm years ago and ended up with some "decent" shots. These are far superior. I especially like that last one up top- very peaceful.

Here's hopefully the last pic of temps this cold. This is the Allegheny River yesterday.

It's 56 degrees now so the river should thaw out today. Going to see if there's some ice dams out there today.
