I am wanting to build a control panel that has the plugs and switches on it. Can someone please point me in the right direction on wiring these together? I have never dealt with a project like this so I dont even know where to begin. All help is greatly appreciated.
I would go to a music store near you and buy the PC-100A American DJ. It has 8 outlets and in the front of the panel is 8 switches for on/off. Plug and play unit, plug it into the wall and plug what you want in the back and turn the switch on in the front.
A nice design would me to use a GFI switch combo for each outlet you want to control. This will allow you to be worry free from everything tripping at the same time. If you can describe what you want to build maybe I can help you with it. ex. How many outlets and how many switches. A simple design is better than a more complicated one when it comes to wiring. As for expansion of a system you can always add outlets or switches. People here from picks that I saw have more receptacles and switches than needed (more parts to fail)
I made 2 very simple boxes, 1 for each end ofmy tank. each box contains its own on/off switch and 10 plugs. These give me more than enough outlets for my 220. I just wired mine like standard household outlets.
