...is it generally a good sign when they take the time to get their foot down through the sand bed (4") and brace themselves? It's new to the tank and after being in there for a week it's foot finally planted itself and shows on the bottom of the glass. Is this a good sign that it took the time to do this? As far as longevity and perhaps health is concerned.

Short answer: yes.

In most cases, this is exactly what haddoni like to do. They can actually retract into the sand when they feel threatened.

Thank you sir. I can't imagine a scenario where a unhealthy specimen would take the time or energy to settle in. We shall see though...1 week and still going
