WLAN card question

If I install a WLAN card into the Profilux (located at the office), will I be able to access the controls from a home computer with Profilux Control software?

Does this enable a feature that can text page my phone when alarms occur?

Hi scott,

Yep you will be able to control your ProfiLux anywhere in the world unlike other brands where you can just view the parameters. This is one of GHL's biggest plus points.

You will be able to set up email alerts direct to your phone, as for texting GHL use dedicated GSM devise which runs independant to the ProfiLux so even in the event of power outage the SMS module will text you to let you know, where other built in types will only warn you once the power is back on. Sort of like shutting the stable door once the horse is bolted really, not being able to send an alarm when the power goes out.

I prefer not buying the SMS unit. What can I do with the WLAN card without the SMS unit?

Emails are sent via the profiLux control software and thus your pc has to be on for this one function, for all others it does not

Couple issues. The office purchased a new Dell computer with Vista. I tried loading the Profilux software from the original disc and it would not work.

Is there a download for Vista?

While at the computer store, I noticed that they sell USB WLAN cards. Is there any reason why this would not work? I purchased the USB module. It should work shouldn't it?????

The ProfiLux uses licensed LANTRONICS software that interfaces with the profilux control, only the PLM-WLAN can work with the profiLux, this makes sure the Profilux is always associated with reliable equipment that they have tested.
